John Bernard ‘Jack' Vutech, 93, passed away peacefully at Westminster Thurber Retirement Community in Columbus on September 4, 2016.
He was born on April 4, 1923 in Cleveland, a son of William and Evelyn Morris Vutech.
Jack was a graduate of Rocky River High School and Ohio Wesleyan University, Class of ’48, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and Pi Delta Epsilon Honorary Collegiate Journalism Fraternity.
Jack served in the European Theatre in World War II, holding the rank of sergeant in the 505th Military Police Battalion.
He began a sales career with Alcoa Aluminum, followed by serving as Vice-President of sales at Dorrance Supply Co. from 1950 until his retirement in 1985.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, the Kiwanis Club of Youngstown, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and docent for Butler Art Institute.
He was preceded in death by wives, Mary Christine Dorrance and Joanne Pressing and brother, Robert W. Vutech.
Jack is survived by 6 children, James (Marilyn) Vutech, John (Debi) Motsch, Robert (Sharon) Vutech, Sally (Steve) Warden, Julie (Brad) Williams and Jeffrey Vutech; 12 grandchildren, Megan Vutech, Katie (Alex) Grant, Amy Warden, Adam (Melissa) Vutech, Kimberly (Mark) Scott, Emily Vutech, Scott Warden, Michelle Motsch, Brandon Williams, Anna Vutech, Jonathan Williams, and Lauren Williams; and 6 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave., Youngstown, with a reception to follow in the church parlor.
