BOARDMAN- Jack S. Moss, 68, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning, October 7th, at St. Elizabethâa�a��s Medical Center. Mr. Moss was born February 6, 1939 in Struthers, the son of Abram and Dorothea Hildebrand Moss. Mr. Moss graduated from The Rayen School in 1956 and then from Youngstown State University with degrees in criminal justice and accounting. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Prior to doing police work, Mr. Moss Owned and operated Youngstown Car Care. He then worked for the Springfield Township Police Department and later as a detective for the Mahoning County Sheriffâa�a��s Department. After retiring from the force in 1986 after 15 years of service, he took to the road as owner and operator of Moss Trucking. A consummate hard worker and family man, he was a practical joker who lived his life with a lot of spunk and humor. When he wasnâa�a��t playing his beloved game boy, he enjoyed racket ball and ping pong. Mr. Moss was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and OOIDA. Mr. Moss is survived by his wife, the former Vicki Sosack, whom he married August 8, 1984; his daughter, Jessica Moss of Boardman; his son, Brian Moss of Boardman; and his sister, Evelyn Caggiano of Columbus. Mr. Moss was preceded in death by his parents. Jack will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him, but his fun-loving personality and giving nature lives on through his wife and children. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 11th at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland where family and friends will be received from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
