Struthers - Jack R. McAllister, Sr., 73, of Lincoln Ave. in Struthers, OH, died Monday, January 7, 2008 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center Emergency Room. Mr. McAllister, Sr. was born March 25, 1934 in Bunkerhill, West Virginia, a son of Oscar and Vera Policino McAllister. Mr. McAllister attended Struthers High School and worked as a machine operator for Youngstown Sheet and Tube for 30 years and also worked for Datco Aluminum Fabricating for 15 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving 4 years on the USS Coney. Mr. McAllister was a member of the St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church and the Local 2162 United Steel Workers, where he served as a past president from 1973-1977. He was also an umpire for the ASA. Mr. McAllister was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan and enjoyed watching horseracing at Mountaineer Race Track. He leaves his wife, the former Shirley Surko, whom he married August 24, 1952; his daughter, Bonnie McAllister of Youngstown; two sons, Jack McAllister, Jr. of Columbiana and Robert McAllister, Sr. of Warren; a sister, June (John) Romeo of Struthers; and three grandchildren, Robert, Jr., Michael, and Ashley McAllister. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul McAllister. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, where a prayer service will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church on Friday at 10:00 a.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be in Mr. McAllister's name to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
