Youngstown - Jack E. Evans, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born on June 22, 1954 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of the late Evan and Rosella (Ola) Evans.
He graduated from Poland Seminary High School in 1972 and was a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley.
Jack was a tool and die maker for several companies in the area before going to Northern States Metals in Austintown, retiring in 2016.
He was a devoted husband, brother, and friend to everyone he encountered. He loved traveling, especially to Mexico, as well as camping, sailing, scuba diving, hunting, and fishing. For over 20 years, Jack and his wife, Linda, welcomed rescue dogs into their home.
Jack is survived by his wife of forty-one years, the former Linda S. Mochtyak, whom he married on May 14, 1983; a sister, Sharon A. (Gary) Winslow of Youngstown, OH; and his two rescued dogs, Eddie and Rocky.
There will be a memorial service celebrating Jack's life at a later date.
The family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to the Friends of Fido, P.O. Box 2963, Youngstown, OH 44511, or to Animal Pawtectors, P.O. Box 303, Cortland, Ohio 44410 in memory of Jack.
Arrangements are being handled by Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street in Boardman.
