Struthers - Irene Viola Zanni, 81, of Struthers, died early Monday morning at the Hospice House.
Irene was born February 2, 1930 in Ellwood City, PA, daughter of Luigi and Virginia Scialdone Cipro.
She was raised in Ellwood City and was a 1947 graduate of Ellwood City High School. She was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, it's Altar and Rosary Society, and the choir.
Irene leaves her husband, Louis Zanni, whom she married June 6, 1953; two daughters,Virginia (John) Gordon and Carol (Terry) Yoder all of of Dunedin, FL; four sons, Fr. Frank Zanni of Vienna, David Zanni of Chillicothe, OH, John Zanni of Albany, NY, and Steven (Kimberly) Zanni of Orlando, FL; one sister, Dorothy (Albert) Cerritelli of Boardman; nine grandchildren, Brenda, Jeffrey, Matthew, Lindsey, Michael, Jerry, Ian, Eric, and Angela; and four great-grandchildren, Mya, Samantha, Dean, and Brielle.
Besides her parents, Irene was preceded in death by one son, Fr. James Zanni; one sister, Betty Lou Cipro; and four brothers, Romolo, Edward, Anthony, and Silvio Cipro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers with Fr. Frank Zanni officiating. Internment will follow at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Friends will be received Thursday from 4-7 pm at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers where a Prayer Service will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m..
