Sarasota - Ila Isabel (Ware) Meehan, 76, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Struthers died early Tuesday morning at Sarasota Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Ila was born April 4, 1934 in Struthers, a daughter of Howard and Isabel Beckstine Ware. She lived in Struthers until moving to Florida in 1997.
A 1953 Struthers High School graduate, Ila was a dispatcher and bus driver for Struthers City Schools for 19 years retiring in 1994. Ila served as president of the Struthers Band Boosters and the Mobile Home Association in Sarasota. She was a member of the St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers.
Besides her husband, Gerard Meehan, of 59 years, Ila leaves five daughters, Sandra (Edward) Stiles of Poland, Cynthia (Charles) Jasinski of Struthers, Darlene (Gerald) Miller, Templeton, Pennsylvania, Patricia (Jim) Hobbs of Kansas City, Missouri, and Norene Scheck (Dale) of Chicago, Illinois; one son, Gary (Julia) Meehan of Lake Milton; one sister, Norene Wilson of Sarasota; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Ila was preceded in death by her brother, Bernard Ware.
Services will be held at 12:00 noon, at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Bernard Gaeta officiating. Interment will follow in the Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown, Ohio.
Friends will be received Saturday from 10:15 a.m. until the time of the prayer service at 11:15 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
