Boardman - Howard Schade, 77, of Boardman, formerly of Struthers, died peacefully Wednesday morning at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center.
Howard, affectionately known to his friends as Shaggy and Duff, was born December 28, 1933 in Carnegie, PA, a son of the late Howard and Delphine Grasshabber Schade. His family came to the Youngstown area and later to Struthers. He moved to Florida in 1980 and returned to this area in 2005.
A 1952 graduate of Struthers High School, Howard served in the United States Army. Howard worked in the maintenance department for the YMCA Boardman Campus. He was also a self-employed carpenter. He previously worked for Isaly's, Borden Dairy, and Superior. H
Howard enjoyed exercising, especially walking, and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeyes. Howard mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
Howard leaves four children, Barbara (Greg) Brooks of New Middletown, Kathleen (Ron) Affagato of Struthers, Douglas Schade of Monument, CO., and Diane Schade of Columbia; one brother, Bruce (Frieda) Schade of Huntington Beach, CA; and the loves of his life, his eight grandchildren, Stone, Zane, Chase, Rachel, Amber, Jake, Cody, and Tanner.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center and Southern Care Hospice.
A Memorial service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions go to the Masternick Activity Fund, 5250 Windsor Way, New Middletown, Ohio 44442 or to the American Cancer Society.
