Hopey L. Earwood Melozzi, 90 Struthers- Hopey L. Earwood Melozzi, 90, of Maplecrest Nursing Home formerly of 22 Morrison St., died Wednesday. Mrs. Melozzi, was born January 29, 1912, in Cleveland, TN to Burleigh and Etta Gates Hoxworth. Moving to the area in 1928, she has since been an area resident. She worked as a welder during World War II, at Republic Rubber and Youngstown Sheet &Tube. A member of the First Baptist Church of Struthers, where she was active until moving to Maplecrest. She was an avid quilter and gardener. Besides her husband the late Louis Melozzi, whom she married in 1946, and who died in 1982, she leaves one daughter: June (Charles) Montgomery of Struthers; two sons: Kenneth (Rose) Earwood of New Middletown; Charles (Pam) Earwood of Hemphill, TX; two sisters: Edna Tulley of Youngstown; Frances Molchan of New Middletown; one brother: Roy Hoxworth of Bellville, IL; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 great- great- grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son Richard Melozzi as an infant; one daughter Marian Sainato; and two brothers: Walter and Phillip Hoxworth. A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 AM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers. Friends may call Sunday, from 5-7 PM at the funeral home and again on Monday from 10-10:45 AM, prior to the service. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Struthers.
