Poland - Hildegard Marie "Hilda" Taindel, 93, died, early, Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center. She was born November 24, 1922 in Dusseldorf, Germany to the late Alois and Hedwig Hula Pajatsch.
Hilda's family relocated to America from Germany in 1924 as her father was one of the original team that set up the seamless mill at Youngstown Sheet and Tube. She attended Struthers High School until she was 18 when her family relocated to Bucharest, Romania, due to her father’s work. She met Anton Taindel and they married on November 19, 1944 in Bucharest. Together they had three children, Andrei (Marcela) Taindel of Boardman, Adriana (Gigi) Gradinaru of Bucharest, Romania and Simone (David) Arnold of Canfield. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and was employed with the International Institute in Youngstown, where she was the head of the Translation Department. Hilda was a very well educated woman and spoke, read and wrote in three different languages. She was a hard worker who was employed as a translator at the American Embassy. She also worked as an English teacher in Bucharest years ago and was doing translations as recently as earlier this year.
She loved and cherished her family deeply, especially her children and grandchildren. Buni had three grandchildren, Mark (Joyce) Arnold of Manhattan, NY, Andrea (James) Simpkins of Boardman and Anthony (Heather) Taindel of Charlotte, NC and one great-grandchild, Taylor Taindel. She also leaves her sister, Anna Marie Yaniglos of Boardman and two sisters-in-law, Maria Feno of Boardman and Anina Taindel of Essen, Germany. She also leaves two nieces, Mihaela Arnold of Boardman and Margo Cecil of San Jose, CA; and a nephew, Daniel Taindel, also of Essen, Germany, all of whom she helped raise
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anton Taindel; her brothers, Walter Pyatch, Ernest Pajatsch and Edeltrout Zaharia and her sister, Shirley Lipka.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 am at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 77 E. Lucius Dr., with the Rev. Fr. Gregory Maturi as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00-7:00 pm at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St. Poland.
The family would like to thank Shepherd of the Valley and to St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center Select Specialty Hospital for the wonderful care given to their mother.
