Hildalee Violet Culp, 81 of Boardman, died Sunday, March 20, 2016 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. She was born May 19, 1934 in Youngstown, daughter of the late J. Berkley and Lillian Lundgren Moore.
She was a 1952 graduate of Boardman High School and went on to attend Grove City College. She was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church where she was a lay scripture reader and co-founder of the former Good Hope Nursery School where she was a teacher and administrator for 20 years, retiring in 1989 . She was involved in several church organizations, including the Booster Club and Funtimers. She was also a member of the Columbiana Doll Club, the Boardman Band Parents, was a Cub Scout Den Chief, a Girl Scout Aide and was involved in the "Gals of '52" card club. One of her many passions was rollerskating, where she met the love of her life, David. Lee was a lover of people and had a smile for everyone she met. She had the unique ability to carry on a conversation with anyone, young or old. She enjoyed camping with her family and later in life she enjoyed going on cruises with her husband. Lee was a lover of dancing and will always be remembered as a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She leaves her loving husband, David H. Culp, whom she married on March 30, 1957; three children, Kenneth D. Culp of Houston, TX, Lillian G. (Jon) Williamson of Boardman and Carl D. (Tina) Culp of Girard; grandchildren, David (Megan) Culp, Theresa Culp, Maria (Ryan) Hancock, Kassie Lee Williamson and Robbie Williamson and her brother, Berkley L Moore of Illinois.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a special aunt, Grace Ruth and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2pm at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Dr. in Boardman, with Pastor Robert Quaintance officiating.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4-7pm at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St. Boardman and prior to the service from 1-1:45pm at the church.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Hospice of the Valley for the wonderful care given to Lee during this difficult time.
