Herman Henry Bushong

Poland- Herman Henry Bushong, Jr., 90, of Poland, died Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Maplecrest Nursing Home in Struthers. Mr. Bushong, also known as "Hank" was born February 16, 1918 in Youngstown, a son of Herman Henry and Gladys Bolton Bushong. He lived in the Struthers-Poland area most of his life. Hank was a 1937 graduate of McDonald High School and worked for the Mahoning Valley Supply Company for most of his working career. He retired in 1980. At one time, he worked at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home part-time, and for the ambulance company. He was an active member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers and the Grand Lodge of F.&A.M. of Ohio #766 Poland. He leaves a daughter, Lynn Ann (Jerry) Bushong Kavan of Canton, OH; three sisters, Evelyn Bushong Meyer of Princeton, IL, Alice Bushong Barney of Portage, IN and Jean Bushong Sims of Meridian, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves his loving companion, "Zoey." Besides his parents, Hank was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Katherine Louise Gough Bushong; a son, Gary Arthur Bushong; and his eldest sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Nelms of Trafford, Pa. Private funeral services will handled by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers. There will be no calling hours. Hank will be interred at the Poland Riverside Cemetery.
