HENRY L. PINTER âa�" 83 LOWELLVILLE âa�" Henry L. Pinter, 83, of 731 W. Wood St., died Friday evening at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Mr. Pinter was born August 8, 1924 in a son of Joseph & Katherine Benish Pinter, and was the youngest of twelve children. Mr. Pinter left the Chaney High School at the age of 17 to join the Civilian Conservation Corps in order to support his widowed mother. Henry was proud to serve his Country in the US Navy enlisting in 1944. He was a signalman 2nd class on the USS LST273. He received stars and ribbons for his service during the Asiatic Pacific Campaign and the Philippine Liberation. Upon his discharge for the Navy, he passed the U.S. Civil Service exam and was employed as a Letter Carrier for the US Postal service, where he delivered mail for Youngstown families on the North Side and West Side of town for 30 years, before his retirement in 1986. He met his wife, the former Anne Menichini of Lowellville on a blind date; they married August 25, 1956. They made there home in Lowellville in 1965. Mr. Pinter was a member of the Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville, where he served as an usher for many years. He was a long time member of local bowling leagues, golf leagues, and enjoyed many years playing softball in Lowellville. He remained a loyal New York Yankee fan since his youth. He was chapter president of AFS exchange student program and opened his home to international students. Mr. Pinter hosted three students, Fred Diniz of Brazil; Rune Myhre of Norway; and Tom Fischer of Switzerland, all who still loving know him as their American Dad. He is survived by his wife Anne of 51 years, one daughter Michelle (Nick) Amendola of Lowellville, and two grandchildren, Mauro and Gia Amendola. He will be sadly missed by many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Pinter is new reunited with his son, Daniel, who passed away in 1980 at the precious age of 14 Besides his parents, he precedes five brothers in death, Andrew Pinter, Edward Pinter, John Pinter, Joseph Pinter, and Frank Stadler; Six sisters, Julia Vanyo, Elizabeth Krossman, Katie Laczko, Ann Ellis, Margaret Kovacs, and Mary Frye. Family and friends will be received Monday evening from 5-8 at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville, where prayer services will be Monday morning at 10:00 am. Funeral Mass will be at the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church Monday morning at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery. Condolences may be sent at
