Henry Robert Limmer

Henry Robert (Bob) Limmer, 82, of Poland, died of congestive heart failure, early Wednesday morning at his home.

Mr. Limmer was born September 20, 1934 in the Bronx, New York, a son of Frederick and Eva MacDonald Limmer.

Bob graduated from the Bronx High School of Science with honors in 1952, received a Bachelor of Science degree from City College of New York in 1956, obtained a Juris Doctorate from Columbia Law School in 1960, and was admitted to the New York State Bar the same year.

He served in the U.S. Army as an Infantry First Lieutenant.

Bob began his legal career as an associate attorney with the Wall Street firm of Simpson Thacher and Bartlett. He served as Staff Vice-President and Counsel of RCA Corporation, and was in the legal departments of Anaconda Copper and Esselte Pendaflex Corporation. He was in private practice for many years with an office located in the Empire State Building. In addition, he was a part-time professor at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, New York, teaching business law, and was an Administrative Law Judge for the New York City Motor Vehicle Department.

He was a member of the American Bar Association, Association of the Bar of New York City, the New York Athletic Club. In Ohio he was an elected Councilman with Poland Village for sixteen years and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown.

He is survived by his wife, Maryann Payne Cox Limmer, whom he married June 26, 1993; two daughters, Emily (Brian) San Marco of West Harrison, NY and Susan (Danny) Cremin of Franklin, TN; two step-daughters, Valerie Cox of Columbus, OH and Deanne Cox Paul of Hollidaysburg, PA; eight grandchildren, Anna and Sofie San Marco, Madeline, Daniel, and Michael Cremin, and Forrest, Sierra and Gage Paul; numerous nephews and nieces; and his buddy, his cat Hugo.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald Limmer.

Bob thanks everyone who knew him for making his life a useful and interesting experience and wishes all of them well, with a special thanks to his wife, Maryann.

A Memorial Service celebrating Bob’s life will be held Sunday, 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave., Youngstown, OH.

Family and friends will be received Saturday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, OH and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the church.
