POLAND - Helene Melrose, 89, passed away of complications from pulmonary disease Sept. 28, at the home of her daughter, Cynthia S. Melrose.
A daughter of Carolyn K. and Harold DeWitt Hicks, Mrs. Melrose was born July 8, 1924, in Youngstown.
She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia S. Melrose (Elias Silverstein), with whom she made her home; a son, Jay N. Melrose of Poland; two grandchildren, Stephanie Anne Hallock of Bel Air, Md. and William Nelson Hallock of Silver Spring Md.; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jack N. Melrose, whom she married in June, 1946.
Mrs. Melrose was employed for 50 years by Arthur V. Whittaker, M.D., served as office manager of The Heart Center and was formerly manager of Colonial Estates Apartments, Poland.
A Poland resident since 1948, Mrs. Melrose was a founding member of the Poland Quest Club.
Private funeral services will be held preceding burial at Riverside Cemetery, Poland.
