Helen Varga

Helen Varga, 89, of Struthers, OH, took the trip of a lifetime to her eternal home on March 3, 2018 from her home. She was born October 2, 1928 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Vayo) Molnar and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a graduate of Springfield High School and had worked for American Paper Products for over thirty years.

Helen was a former member of Rockview Christian Church in Youngstown where she had been involved in many church dinners and making kielbasa. She was a member of Bethel Friends Church in Poland. She was an avid cook and baker and enjoyed cooking for large groups of people. She enjoyed gardening, mowing the grass and shoveling snow. She enjoyed her long rides in search of frozen custard, traveling cross country and playing the penny slots.

Her husband, John Varga, whom she married in 1947, died in 2008. She leaves three sons, James (Linda) of Struthers, Jerry of Campbell, and Steve of Struthers; a daughter-in-law, Sandy (Dee Dee) (Pizzoferrato) Varga of Struthers ; eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and her parents, Helen was preceded in death by two sons, John and Frank Varga; a daughter-in-law, Sherrie Varga; four brothers, John, Stephen, Frank, and Julius Molnar, as well as three sisters, Elizabeth Shirilla, Anna Borkes, and Margaret Smith..

Friends may call from 4-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland and Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. at Bethel Friends Church, 2771 Spitler Road in Poland. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Bethel Friends Church in Poland with Pastor Steve Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow at the Belmont Park Cemetery in Youngstown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Varga's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
