Poland - Helen Sutherland, of Poland, died July 29, 2014 at Vista Center of Center of Boardman.
Mrs.Sutherland was born July 21, 1928 in New Castle, PA.
She worked 40 plus years as a nurse at Northside Hospital.
Helen was very active in the Republican party and was a poll worker for the board of elections.
She was a member of the Friends of Poland Library, Boardman AARP, Poland Garden Club, where she was treasurer, and the Youngstown South Women's Connection, where she was also treasurer. Helen attended Poland Village Baptist Church and numerous bible studies. She loved her cats and was a contributor to Angels for Animals and Operation Christmas Child.
She is survived by her companion, Myron Yeager of Poland.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Duncan Sutherland.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hampton Woods Nursing Center and Vista Center of Boardman for their excellent care.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11AM with Brian Ethridge officiating at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270, N. Main St., Poland.
Friends and family will be received Saturday from 10-10:45AM. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
