Struthers - Helen J. Moretti, 79, died Monday morning, May 22, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Helen was born March 30, 1938 in New Castle, PA, a daughter of Charles and Helen Flout Quint.
She was a 1956 graduate of New Castle High School and attended Youngstown State University. Mrs. Moretti worked as a third grade teacher for St. Vitus School in New Castle for several years before taking an instructional aide position with the Struthers Board of Education. For over 30 years, she was passionate for tutoring her kindergarten students and was known for teaching them how to tie their shoes.
A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, Helen loved her home and centered her life around taking care of her family. Mrs. Moretti was a member of Holy Family Church in Poland and the Struthers V.F.W. 3538 Ladies Auxiliary. In her free time, she enjoyed bus trips to the casino, playing cards, and bowling in a league at the Holiday Bowl in her younger years.
Helen is survived by her husband, Donald M. Moretti, whom she married July 29, 1961; her daughter, Mary Jo Penk of New Middletown; two grandsons, Jeffrey (Theresa) Penk of New Springfield and Jacob Penk of New Middletown; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Bella; two sisters, Ann Tomasello of New Castle and Betty Lou Ullrich of New Castle; and a sister-in-law, Elsie Moretti of New Middletown.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, John Quint.
A prayer service will be held on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Lowellville.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Helen's family would like to express their appreciation and thank Dr. Ricciardi, Dr. Tofil, and the nurses of 6W at St. Elizabeth Health Center for the wonderful care they provided to Helen.
