"Together Again"

Poland- Helen M. Miketa, 81, of Poland, died Saturday, August 29, 2009 at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center in Columbiana.
Helen was born August 30, 1927 in Youngstown, a daughter of Vincenzo and Catherine Mordocco Parrello.
She was a 1945 graduate of Wilson High School. Along with her husband, Helen owned and operated two Golden Dawn Food stores in New Middletown and East Palestine, retiring in 1986. She served as President of the Youngstown Area Grocer's Ladies Auxiliary for two years.
An avid lover of the sun, she enjoyed spending winters in Clearwater, Florida, but her greatest joy was cooking and baking for family and friends. Helen was a member of Holy Family Parish in Poland.
Her husband, Frank W. Miketa, whom she married July 9, 1955, died October 18, 2004.
She is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Tom) Marchese of Poland and Donna (Mark) Morocco of Poland; one son, David (Rhonda) Miketa of New Middletown; one brother, Joseph (Dee) Parrello of Hubbard; one sister, Sarah (Bob) Boyles of North Lima; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Kristian) Wymer, Jason, Kathryn and Sarah Marchese, Mark and Nicole Morocco and Stan Miketa; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Ellie Wymer; and one brother-in-law Raymond Miketa of Lakeland, Fl.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary DeSanzo; and two brothers, Ernest and Patsy Parrilla.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Rev. Msgr. William Connell officiating. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral in Poland, where a prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.
The family would like to thank the staffs at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center, and Hospice of the Valley for all of their love and care.
