Helen Frances (Uhrin) Marapese
October 26, 1941 — December 18, 2016
Struthers - Helen Frances Marapese, 75, of Struthers, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 18, 2016 of complications due to pneumonia at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Helen was born October 26, 1941 in Youngstown, a daughter of Stephen and Mary Mellick Uhrin and was raised in Campbell and prior to moving to Struthers.
A 1959 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, Helen worked as a cook for Beuchner Hall at YSU for over 25 years. She was a long time member of St. John the Baptist Church in Campbell.
Helen cherished her role of being a mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her grandkids. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and was known for her pizzels, pieroghy, and wedding soup, though anything Helen made was delicious. She was a wonderful and dedicated friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Helen leaves three sons, Kenneth (Jennifer) Marapese Jr., Edward (Shelley) Marapese, and Donald Marapese all of Struthers; four grandchildren, Alex, Jacob,Tia and Samantha Marapese; and one brother, Stephen Uhrin of Campbell.
Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by two brothers, Butch and Mike Uhrin.
A memorial service celebrating Helen's life will be held after the holidays.
