Helen Kassiani Carbon, 89, of University Heights, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio died Tuesday September 4, 2018 at University Hospital in Cleveland.

She was born November 19, 1928 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of Gust and Mary (Nickolaides) Chelos. She lived in the area until 1964 until moving to the Cleveland Area.

Helen worked for L.T.V. Republic Steel, She was an executive secretary for top management from 1947-1994 when she retired.

She was a member of Saints Constantine and Helen Cathedral in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society, and Daughter's of Penelope. where she had served as president for both organizations. She was a volunteer worker at University Hospital in Cleveland for twenty one years. The most important role in her life was her love of church and family.

Her husband Frank Carbon, whom she loved unconditionally, and whom she married November 11, 1971 died August 26, 1989.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Joan Ciccotelli of Boardman; three nieces, Barbara (Nick) Damico, Lois (Pat) Marco, and JoAnn (Ron) Brode all of Boardman; a great-niece, Nicole (David) Powell of Columbus, Ohio; a great-nephew, Jim (Morgan) Damico of New York, New York City; Linda, Annie, Alex, Andrew, all of Florida; two great-great nieces, Angelina and Lucia, and great-great nephew Nicky Powell of Columbus, Ohio. She also leaves her beloved sister-in-law, Margaret Richardson

Besides her parents and her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her sisters, Anastasia (Lucille) Kantaras, and Bessie Porter, brothers-in-law, Mark Porter and Louis Ciccotelli; niece Althea Kantaras, and nephew Pete Kantaras.

Funeral services will be held Monday September 10, 2018 at St. John Greek Orthodox Church in Boardman. Friends may call from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will follow in the Belmont Park Cemetery, Youngstown, OH.

Arrangements are being handled by the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman.
