Helen D. Bartlett

North Lima - Helen D. Bartlett, 90, of North Lima, formerly of Poland, died Tuesday morning, November 5, at Assumption Village.

Helen was born April 19, 1923 in New Castle, PA, a daughter of Michael and Bessie (Sopka) Babyak. She was raised in Struthers and in 1960 moved to Poland.

A 1941 graduate of Struthers High School, Helen enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II where she was a store keeper, stationed in Harrisburg. It was there she met her husband Charles. They were married in Harrisburg on August 10, 1945 and decided to return to Helen's hometown of Struthers.

Helen worked for Sears Roebuck for 10 years, and retired from Plumber & Steamfitters Local 87 where she worked for over 20 years as a clerk. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, and reading.

She was a member of Holy Family Church in Poland for over 40 years.

Her husband Charles of 65 years, died August 6, 2010. She leaves two sons, David (Beverley) Bartlett of Rockwell, NC and Daniel (Cindy) Bartlett of Boardman; two brothers, Johnny (Joanne) Babyak of Poland and George (Joyce) Babyak of Yucca Valley, CA; one sister, Pauline (Frank) Gazdik of Boardman; six grandchildren, Colleen Wilson, Julie Milard, Michelle Day, Rebecca Bartlett, David Bartlett, and Rachel Bartlett; and four great-grandchildren, Danielle, Alexis, Sabrina, and Charles.

Besides her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Babyak and Irene Shewmaker; and two brothers, Michael Babyak and Andrew Babyak

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 10:00 AM at Holy Family Church with Msgr. William Connell officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Lowellville.

Friends will be received friday from 4-7 PM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers where a Prayer Service will be held Saturday at 9:15 AM.
