Youngstown - Helen Grace Baker, 84, of Youngstown, formerly of Corry, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, May 20th, 2012 at her home.
Helen was born August 8, 1927 in Corry, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Grace Vaughn-Scott and Frank Scott, who relocated to Salem, Ohio in the late 1940's.
A 1945 graduate of Corry High School, Helen was the Office Manager at Salem China Company for 18 years. She was a professional organist for over fifty years playing for churches all around Ohio and Pennsylvania. She had a wonderful relationship with all types of music and admired the joy that it would bring to people.
Helen attended the Bridge of Hope Assembly of God Church in Boardman which was a large part of her life. She enjoyed helping people and she loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Helen leaves her husband of 56 years, James W. Baker, when she married June 5, 1955; daughter, Connie and her husband, Dennis A. Higbee of Columbiana; granddaughter, Katherine Sunshine (Michael) Hoover; great-granddaughters, Leigthy Russell, Elizabeth Russell and Norah-Ann Grace Hoover; great-grandson, Owen Hoover, all of Hamilton, Ohio; grandson, Thomas James (Larra Miller) Higbee and great-grandson, Jesse James Higbee; granddaughter, Victoria (Christopher) Hudson; grandson, Jeremy (Amanda) Higbee; great-granddaughters, Heaven Grace and Skylynn Higbee; great-grandson, Ethen Higbee, all of Columbiana; two nieces, Kathy (Don) Reash of Columbiana and Vicki Watson of Columbus; three great nieces, Kristen Llewellyn of Columbiana and Madelyn and Meredith Watson of Columbus and a great-nephew, Kevin Llewellyn of Los Angeles, California.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Samuel Wilson Hoover.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Cunningham Becker Funeral Home in Poland with Pastor Rick Mason officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home
