Heide S. Candia

Youngstown - Heide S. Candia, 85, of Rutledge Drive, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the emergency room at Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. 

Heide was born December 11, 1938, in Vienna, Austria, a daughter of the late Demetrius and Alice (Geiger) Dobrovoln 

Heide is survived by her son, Christopher (Michelle) Candia of Rochester, NY; two grandchildren, Nicholas Candia and Alexis Candia; three great-grandchildren, Emberley, Wade, and John Luca; a stepson, Alan Candia of TX;  a stepdaughter, Mary Candia of TX; two brothers, Werner (Petra) Dobrovolny and Eric (Renate) Gieger;  and her companion,  Robert Keiper of Hubbard, OH.  

Besides her parents, Heide was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Abel B. Candia, Sr., whom she married on December 11, 1965 and died on September 10, 2006; a stepson, Abel Candia, Jr.; and a sister, Gertrude Martin.

Services will be private.  

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that material tributes take the form of contributions to Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield, OH 44406 in memory of Heide.  

Arrangements are being handled by Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring Street in Struthers.
