Hazel A. Kollus

WARREN - Hazel A. Kollus, 93, of Warren, formerly of Poland, died peacefully Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at her residence with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Kollus was born Tuesday, June 23, 1914 in Petersburg, a daughter of Albert L. and Miriam A. Sipe Baun. She was a 1932 graduate of Springfield Township High School and a graduate of the Paramount Beauty Academy. Mrs. Kollus was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed Bible studies and sewing lap quilts at the church. She loved to travel and enjoyed bus trips. Mrs. Kollus was the co-owner of the Baun Beauty Salon in Poland for 42 years along with her sister, Ruth. She and her husband owned a home in Ft. Myers Fl., where they spent the winters. She loved to go shelling, and used them to create beautiful crafts. Mrs. Kollus loved gardening, crafts, and was a loving and caring wife to her husband and to her family. She lived most of her life in Poland until the death of her husband then made her home with her sister in Warren. Her husband, Karl F. Kollus, whom she married August 2, 1958, died September 15, 2004. She leaves two sisters, Ruth A. Baun and June Roller, both of Warren; three nieces, Elisa (Paul) Williams of Warren, Louise Ellis of MD, and Rita Slovan of AZ; one nephew, Thomas Kollus of AZ; and one sister-in-law, Margaret Ellis of MD. Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one sister, Vera I. Lueck; and two brother-in-laws, Pastor Orville Lueck and Elmer A. Roller. Funeral services will be held Monday at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2985 Center Rd (Rt. 224) in Poland at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rusty Wills officiating. Friends will be received Monday from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown.
