Youngstown - Harry C. Zimmerman, 56, of Boardman, died April 22, 2009 at the Hospice House after a two-month illness.
Harry was born August 15, 1952 in Youngstown, the son of Harry and Wilma O'Neill Zimmerman. He was a lifelong area resident.
He was a 1970 graduate of Chaney High School and then enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserves serving in Denver, Colorado. Harry first worked for US Steel as a WEMR (welding electrical maintenance repair) and most recently for General Motors in Lordstown as a WEMR.
He was a member of the Western Star No. 21 Lodge F & AM and a 32nd degree Mason of the Valley of Youngstown Scottish Rite, a member of the NRA, and an avid model train enthusiast.
Harry leaves his mother, Wilma "Jean" Zimmerman of Boardman; two sons, Eric (Michele) Zimmerman of South Jordan, Utah and Kevin (Sandy) Zimmerman of Stafford, Virginia; three sisters, Jane Martin of Youngstown, Nancy (Ken) Croutch of Boardman, and Wilma (Rob) O'Donnell of Boardman; and five grandchildren, Wesley, Jamie, Emily, Liam, and Megan.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 3rd at 1:30 p.m. in the Auditorium Room at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park, 123 McKinley Avenue, Youngstown, where the family will receive friends from 1-1:30 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Harry's name to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd., Poland, Ohio 44514.
Arrangements are being handled by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
