Harry McBride, 92 Lowellville- Harry McBride, 92, died Thursday afternoon at the Greenbriar Health Care Center. He was born May 2, 1910 in Lowellville a son of the late Freeman and Cora Flickinger McBride. He was a 1928 graduate of Lowellville High School, and has been a lifelong area resident. The seventh generation of his family to live in the Mahoning valley, his family was some of the original settlers in the Lowellville area, residing there for 200 years. He owned and operated McBride Motors Chevrolet Agency in Lowellville with his brothers Raymond and Leland from 1928 until his retirement in 1975. He was responsible for keeping many of the cars in Lowellville running. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served as a crew chief for a PBY Flying boat in the Pacific while performing Air-Sea Rescue with the 2nd Emergency Rescue Squadron. His squadron was recognized with a Presidential Unit Citation for saving the lives of many downed pilots. An active and lifelong member of the Lowellville Presbyterian Church, he served the church in many capacities. He was also active in many civic organizations: a Charter Member and Past-President of the Lowellville Lions Club, a member of the Lowellville Businessmenâa�a��s Association, Lowellville Historical Society, Lowellville Railroad Station Association, the Lowellville Fire Department, serving as Assistant Fire Chief, and the Lowellville Senior Citizens. On August 20, 1941, he married Ann Catherine Fall, who passed away February 27, 2002. He is survived by his son John and Daughter-in-law Kathleen McBride of Butte, Montana; one niece: Rebecca Ziegler of Punta Gorda, Florida; and Special Friends and Caregivers: Tina and Lisa Price, and Martha Ostavitz. Two brothers preceded him in death: Raymond and Leland McBride. A Funeral Service will be held 10AM, Monday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville. Friends may call from 5-7 PM Sunday at the funeral home and from 9-9:45 AM on Monday prior to the service.
