Lowellville - Harry Kaneski, 90, died early Friday morning, November 25, 2016 at Greenbriar Healthcare Center.
Harry was born July 26, 1926 in Bessemer, PA, a son of the late George and Anna Rentz Kaneski.
A lifelong resident of Lowellville, he was a 1945 graduate of Lowellville High School. After graduation, he served in the Army Air Force during World War II, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class. Upon his return to the area, he was employed by Ohio Edison for 44 years, working in power plants and substation construction.
While his children were young, Harry was a Little League coach and manager for Poland Schools. In his free time, he loved to go fishing, camping, and traveling.
Harry was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Poland.
His wife of 54 years, the former Esther Hines, whom he married on June 10, 1950, preceded him in death on September 9, 2004. He is survived by his two sons, James (Holly) Kaneski of Boardman and John (Kelly) Kaneski of Oxnard, CA; sister, Rosemary (Leon) Nels of Norton; son-in-law, Scott Sferra of Boardman; four grandchildren, Lisa Kaneski, Jim Kaneski, Michelle (Frank) Gilboy, and Dan (Stacy) Rose; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Harry was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Sferra; three brothers, Karl Kaneski, Paul Lennox, and Richard Lennox.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers, where a funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Julianne Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Lowellville Cemetery.
