Struthers - Harry C. Hollingbery, 86, of Struthers, died Tuesday evening at Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House surrounded by his entire family.
Harry was born May 19, 1923 in Youngstown, a son of Howell and Elsie Lowry Hollingbery and was a life-long resident of Struthers.
A 1941 graduate of Struthers High School, Harry attended Youngstown College for three years. He was employed for 37 years at Youngstown Sheet & Tube Open Hearth and then LTV until Black Monday in 1977.
A United States Navy Veteran, Harry served with the Amphibian Forces in both World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Harry was a musician and enjoyed playing both the accordion and trumpet. He was a member of East Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses on Struthers Liberty Road where he served as a minister for many years.
Besides his wife, the former Esther Kurtz,whom he married August 21, 1943, he leaves three daughters, Karen (Douglas) Kraynak of West Middlesex, Marlene (Charles) Sheville of East Liverpool, and Jael (Daniel) Howard of Youngstown; three granddaughters, Jordan (Eric) Moore, Kendall (Andrew) Anderson, and Hillary Howard; and five grandsons, Justin (Melissa) Sheville, Kory Kraynak, Lance Kraynak, Caleb Sheville, and Kyle Kraynak.
Besides his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his step-mother, Violet Hollingbery and his step-brother, Edward Toy.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 319 Struthers-Liberty Road, Campbell, with Michael Collier officiating.
Friends will be received Saturday prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial tributes be made in Mr. Hollingbery's name to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 319 Struthers-Liberty Road, Campbell, Ohio 44405 or to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
