Youngstown - Harry A. Grant, 93 of Youngstown, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Shepherd of the Valley.

Born March 20, 1931 in Struthers, Ohio, he was a son of the late Alexander and Violet (Jackson) Grant.

A 1949 graduate of Struthers High School, Harry then joined the United States Air Force and served from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. Throughout his military career, he served overseas in Japan for almost two years. Upon returning to the states, Harry married the love of his life, the former Joan Wilding, on August 21, 1954. Harry and Joan moved to Newburgh, NY where Harry was stationed at Stewart Air Force Base. It was there where he was honorably discharged resulting in Joan and Harry returning to their Struthers roots and later New Middletown.

Harry and Joan were later blessed with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The two were married for over 64 beautiful years until her passing in 2019. After Harry's military career, he worked as a Service Technician for Simplex Time Recorder, now Johnson Controls, from 1959 until his retirement in 1995. An active member of Christ Lutheran Church, he was often involved in numerous church activities throughout his life.

Harry was an avid fan of the Cleveland sports teams and could be found watching the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers. He enjoyed showing off his bowling skills in the many leagues in which he was involved. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends and cherished an immense amount of time traveling the United States with his wife and visiting all the beautiful sites our nation had to offer. He was often known as being the man to go to when something needed fixed or repaired. He loved his moments of being able to cheer on his grandchildren in all of their activities. Above all, he was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Dennis (Linda) Grant of Springfield Township, Diane (Michael Jr.) D'Amico of Springfield Township, Linda (Justin) Jefferis of New Castle, PA, and Sondra (Gary) Blackson of Springfield Township; one sister, Velma Lenz, of Reedsville, PA; grandchildren, Nicole (Tony) Fortunato, Michele (Frank) Gallo, Jeremy (Fiancée- Lydia) Blackson, Marisa (Doug) Burley, Jocelyn (Michael) Edgerton, Teque (Fiancée-Kim) Grant, Tya (Derek) Coldiron, and Trinity Grant; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his infant children, David and Susan Grant; granddaughter, Ashley D'Amico; brother; Gilbert Grant; three sisters, Mildred Speerbrecher, June Hull, and Lillian Robison.
