Enon Valley, PA- Harry James Curatola, 84, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024, surrounded by family in the comfort of his home, after a short illness.
Harry was born November 8, 1940 in Petersburg, Ohio, a son of James and Madonna (Quear) Curatola.
Harry attended Springfield Local High School and began working at a young age assisting local farmers. He worked for Ohlin Brothers Lumber and Youngstown Sheet & Tube, before becoming a diesel mechanic. A member of Teamsters, Harry worked for M&M Trucking and Mitchell Transport, both in Bessemer, and finished his career with Youngstown Kenworth Trucks in Hubbard.
Harry's life was shared with his beloved wife, the former Norma J. Metzka, whom he married on July 20, 1959. Together, they celebrated 65 years of marriage, raising three children and welcoming five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren into their family. As a devoted family man, Harry treasured his time with his loved ones and adored his titles of Grandpa, Poppy, Grandpa Tola, and Papa. As a fan of all sports, Harry found great joy in attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
An avid outdoorsman, Harry enjoyed hunting and fishing during his leisure time. He was an active member of the Bessemer Rod and Gun Club and the Lawrence County Coon & Fox Club, where he served as a trustee and held various offices through the years. Known as a gifted jack-of-all-trades, Harry was generous with his time in helping family and friends with repairs and home projects.
Harry leaves to carry on his memory, his wife Norma; children, Kathy (Jack) Horvath of New Middletown, Cindy (Doug) Rossi of Petersburg, and Jamie (Tawnya) Curatola of Enon Valley; brothers, Ralph (Dee) Curatola of La Mirada, CA and James Curatola of Las Vegas; sisters, Carol Sainato of Bessemer, Charlotte Sznajkart of New Springfield, Mary Lou Eckman of New Middletown, and Rose Zimmerman of Austintown; grandchildren, Bryan (Megan) Stacy, Danny (Megan) Stacy, Ashley (Joel) Hopper, Todd (Jordan) Rossi, and Karlee (Paul) Farone; and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by siblings, Dorothy Anderson, Carmen Curatola, John Curatolo, and Stanley Curatola.
