Harold E. Olson, 81
LOWELLVILLE - Harold E. Olson, 81, died at his residence on Feb. 28, 2012.
Harold was born May 8, 1930, in Lowellville, a son of Harold and Bernice Smith Olson.
He was 1948 Lowellville High School graduate.
Harold most recently worked for Ohio Bell Telephone Company as a troubleshooter before retiring in 1986 after 31 years. After retirement, he went on to start Pine Hollow Water Company in Lowellville. He was active in politics in the early 70s, where he was democratic nominee for state representative for the 82nd District. Harold was also second vice chair for Mahoning County Humane Society. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Harold also loved spending time at the mountains.
He is survived by his girlfriend of 18 years, Janet Chandler of Struthers; a daughter, Bonnie (Gary) Slaven of Lowellville; four sons, Rex (Karen) Olson, David Olson, Ted (Trish) Olson, and John (Wendy) Olson, all of Lowellville; a brother, Richard Olson of Pynatuming, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Roseann Olson; a grandson, Jeremy Olson; and a great-granddaughter, Courtney Tatar.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 7 p.m at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville.
Friends will be received Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
