Harold J. Oliver

North Lima- Harold J. Oliver, 90, died Wednesday evening, June 10, 2015 at Assumption Village following a short illness.

Mr. Oliver was born July 11, 1924 in Boardman, a son of Joseph and Nora Moff Oliver.

Raised in Boardman, he was a graduate of Boardman High School. In 1943, he was drafted into the United States Army, serving during World War II in Calcutta, India, until being honorably discharged in 1946.

Mr. Oliver worked as a structural ironworker for 39 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Ironworkers Local 207 and the Ironworkers Local 207 Retirees Group.

Mr. Oliver was a longtime member of Good Hope Lutheran Church in North Lima, where he served as former church treasurer and church council member, was a past usher, and was a former member of the Stewardship Committee and the Levites Men's Group.

Harold's wife, the former Eleanor Kmetz, whom he married January 9, 1954, preceded him in death on January 28, 1995. He is survived by his daughter, Kim, with whom he made his home in North Lima; a brother, Donald (Barbara) Oliver of North Lima; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Oliver was preceded in death by his infant son, Kenneth; two brothers, Edwin and Myron; and a sister, Lois Oliver Patrick.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., North Lima with Pastor Ralph Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman and Monday from 10:15-10:45 a.m. at the church, prior to the service.

The family requests that any memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mr. Oliver's name to a charity of the donor's choice.
