Harold D. Kelley, 76 New Middletown- Harold D. Kelley, 76, of 9247 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Rd., went home to be with his Lord Tuesday morning at his residence. Mr. Kelley was born March 16, 1928 in North Judson, Indiana, a son of Harry and Octavia Gire Kelley. He was raised in Garrett, Indiana and moved to Poland in 1957. A 1946 graduate of Garrett High School, Mr. Kelley received his Bachelor of Science in Education in 1966 and his Masters in Education in 1974 from Youngstown State University. From 1966 until 1988 he taught 8th grade math and history in the Springfield Local School System and he also served as past Athletic Director. After retirement he served as a substitute teacher for 16 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving from 1946 until 1948 and was a member of the VFW Post #2799. He was a member of the National Education Association and the Ohio Education Association. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling with his wife of 58 years. As great a life he led, Harold felt his best years began 24 years ago when he became a âa�A"soldierâa�A� in the heavenly army of Jesus Christ. He humbly served God wherever he was needed, and at his church he became âa�A"Grandpa Kelleyâa�A� to all the younger generations. Mr. Kelley was a very active member of Calvary Assembly of God in Boardman and served his church and church family in many capacities including serving on the Deacon Board and as usher. His greatest aim was to please his Savior, Jesus, and that is exactly what he did. Besides his wife, the former Christine J. Ruggiero whom he married June 5, 1948, Mr. Kelley leaves three daughters, Kathleen J. (Lyle) Orr of Boardman, Darlene A. Kelley of Boardman, and Jacalyn (Charles) Spayde of Willoughby, Ohio; one son, Harold P. Kelley and his fiancée Linda Vesy both of New Middletown; three sisters, Isabel Lung of Bonita Springs, Florida, Audrey Beaty of Angola, IN., and Linda Mann of Pleasant Lake, IN.; one brother, Harry Kelley of Angola, IN.; eight grandchildren, Michael (Julie) Spayde, Jennifer (Jim) Fedor, Michelle (Jim) Senkowski, Kevin (April) Gorby, Richard (Joey) Orr, Angela (Erik) George, Bryan (Kerri) Savaet, Shannon Kelley, Sean Kelley, and Sam Kelley; six great-grandchildren, Brennan and Dane Senkowski, Brianna Herman, Dylan George, Jaden and Macey Orr. Besides his parents, one brother, William Kelly, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Boardman. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. in church.
