There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, May 27 at Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers celebrating the life of Constantine "Gus" Niro, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 23, 2015.
Gus was born on Aug. 3, 1937 in Lowellville, OH a son of Domenic and Carmela Listorti Niro and was a lifelong area resident.
Gus graduated from Struthers High School and served his country in the U.S Army. He was the president and owner of Niro's Forklift Service and worked as a master mechanic for over 40 years. Following his retirement, he enjoyed being a bus driver for Poland Schools. Gus was a member of St. Nicholas Church. He was a member of and held officer positions in the the Castelbottaccio Club, the Pacentro Club and the Mahoning Valley Old Car Club. His prized 1930 Model A Ford won the Model A Restorer's Club award for the most original Model A in the world in 1994.
He leaves his loving wife, the former Anna "Emma" Pacella, whom he married on April 20, 1963, his daughter Lena of Poland, Debra (Paul) Guzman of Poland, Domenic (Gina) of North Royalton and Michael of Poland. His grandchildren Anthony and Carmela Guzman and Domenic Niro were his pride and joy. Gus also leaves behind 3 loving sisters. Mary Delisio, Toni Furano and Jennie Dilisio along with many extended family members and friends.
We will always miss his love, laughter, strength, humor and how he made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Friends and family may call Tuesday 1-3 PM and 6-8 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St, Poland, where there will also be a prayer service Wednesday at 11:15 AM at the funeral home.
