Grace W. Runge

Grace W. Runge, 80 Struthers- Grace W. Runge, 80, of 791 Poland Ave., died Monday evening at Beeghly Oaks Skilled Facility. Mrs. Runge was born February 16, 1925 in Youngstown, a daughter of Gail and Ethel Cyrus Shultz. She came to Struthers at the age of two. She was a member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman where she was a member of Ruth Circle and the Altar Guild. She was a former member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers where she was teacher and superintendent of the Sunday School. A 1941 graduate of Struthers High School, Mrs. Runge worked as a cashier for Runge Value King in Struthers. At one time she worked in the bakery of Oles Market and as an operator for Ohio Bell. Mrs. Runge was a poll worker for the Board of Elections and was a volunteer candy striper at the former Southside Hospital. Her family and friends will remember Mrs. Runge for her love of plants and animals. Her husband, Carl Runge Jr., whom she married in 1947, died April 7, 1978. She leaves one daughter, Christine (Jeff) Johnston of Boardman; three sons, David (Karen) Runge of Caroll, IA, Raymond (Valerie) Runge of Houston, TX, and Thomas Runge of Struthers; a brother, Jack Shultz of Poland; and five grandchildren, Ingrid(Shawn) Fox, Luke (Elaine) Runge, Shane Runge, and Kelly and Jeff Johnston. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Lipp, and Ethel Riddle; and three brothers, George, Paul, and Robert Shultz. Funeral services will be Friday 11:00 A.M. at the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman. Friends may call Thursday evening from 5-8 PM at the Davidson- Becker Funeral Home, Struthers and Friday, from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church.
