Grace Girts

Cleveland - Grace Girts, 71, died Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Southern Hills Health and Rehab.
Ms. Girts was born February 6, 1943 in Youngstown, a daughter of Charles and Eva Mae Girts.
She moved to Struthers in 1955 and graduated from Struthers High School in 1961. Grace went on to graduate from South Side Hospital Radiological Technology School in 1963 as well as Hiram College with a BA in Allied Health Science in 1985.
She was a technologist at St. John's Hospital in Cleveland for 26 years until its closing in 1990. Grace completed her education at Cleveland Clinic Radiation Oncology School in 1992 and retired as a Registered Radiation Therapist in 2009 from the Cleveland Clinic.
She was very active in Cleveland and national societies of Radiologic Technologists and attended 30 plus years of annual conferences. She received lifetime membership at the Cleveland SRT.
Grace served in many offices in all the radiological societies. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid traveler.
She was a member of the Berea United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three brothers, Arthur (Marjorie) Girts of Ft. Myers, FL, Charles (Barbara) Girts of Youngstown, and Donald (Christine) Girts of Cleveland;
three sisters, Mary McElwain of Applecreek, OH, Betty (Donald) Freese of Peoria, AZ, and Carole (John) Wire of Boardman; 21 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Grace was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Girts; and two sisters, Ella Mae
Serenko and Margaret Williams.
A memorial service will be held at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, Saturday at 12:00 PM.
Friends will be received Saturday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
