Gloria "Bunny" Jean (Mathews) Mineo

Gloria Jean (Mathews) Mineo "Bunny", age 68, died on Monday, February 8, 2016 in the comfort of her home with her husband by her side. She was born in Hubbard on April 6, 1947, daughter of the late Ralph and Janet Mathews.

She was a 1965 graduate of Hubbard High School, where she was an Honor Student, Homecoming Queen and Head Majorette. Gloria worked her way through college by working as a production clerk at Valley Mold and Iron. She graduated from YSU with a degree in Elementary Education and later went back to get her certification in Special Education.

Gloria was a member of Bethel Friends Church for 41 years where she taught Sunday School and provided monthly Senior Citizen Luncheons. She was a true believer in Jesus and loved her church and it's members.

She started her career at Fowler Vienna, teaching 5th grade. After five years, she joined the staff at Youngstown City Schools, where she taught special education to 1st and 2nd grades. She retired in 2000 following 30 years of service.

Gloria enjoyed cooking, family dinners and parties. She was an avid car enthusiast and with her husband, had several muscle cars and sports cars.

She leaves her husband of 43 years, Ken of Poland; her daughter, Brandie (Jordan) Marrie of Poland; brother, Ron (Karen) Mathews of Hubbard; granddaughter, Kenley Marrie; her brother-in-law, Jim (Judy) Mineo and five nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved aunt, Audrey.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7pm at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St. Poland.

Private memorial services will be held for the family.
