Struthers - Glenn E. Munholand, 89, of Struthers, died Wednesday evening at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Glenn was born May 13, 1922 in Youngstown, a son of Lloyd and Vida Stoner Munholand.
A life-long resident of Struthers, Glenn attended Struthers High School and in September 28, 1942 enlisted in the United States Army.
A Paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division, Glenn served in Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He received numerous medals, the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge with one Oak Leaf Cluster, American Campaigne Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaigne Medal with three bronze stars, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Returning to Struthers, Glenn received his G.E.D. from South High School. He was a furniture finisher for Sheely's Furniture Store for 25 years, retiring in 1984. He owned his own finishing shop, working out of his garage in Struthers, and was well known in the community for his talent. Glenn's work can be found through out many homes including the many furniture pieces at the Becker Funeral Homes.
Glenn was an active member and very proud to be the door keeper of the Poland Village Baptist Church.
He leaves his wifeof 64 years, the former Ruby Lehman, whom he married July 17, 1946; one daughter, Glenda (Nick) Visingard of New Middletown; one son, James (Anna) Munholand of North Jackson; one sister, Carol (Bill) Megan of Rockford, IL; two brothers, Howard and William Munholand, both of Struthers; five grandchildren, Luke (Annika) Munholand, Laura (Dave) Lewis, Caleb (Autumn) Munholand, Windy (Marc) Cole, and Nicky Visingard; thirteen great-grandchildren, Ezra, Noah, Ayna, Petra, Mary, Jack, Nate, Mya, Ella, Aidan, Emry, Laney, and Brayden.
Besides his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald, and Jack Munholand; and two sisters, Martha Shipley and Marion Phillips.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, 11:00 am at the Poland Village Baptist Church with Pastor Brian J. Ethridge officiating. Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Friends will be received Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, Ohio.
