Niles - Gladys L. Braund, 89, died February 11, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Health Center surrounded by her loving family.
Gladys was born March 25, 1927 in Struthers, a daughter of Jack and Twila Case Peffer.
She was a 1945 graduate of Struthers High School. She went onto graduate from Christian H. Buhl School of Nursing in 1948. Gladys was a Registered Nurse at both Northside and Southside Hospitals retiring in 1977. She was a member of the General Duty Nurses Association, PEO Philosophical Education Organization, and Retired Nurses Association.
Gladys was also a member of the Poland United Methodist Church.
She loved cross-stitching, crocheting, and working jigsaw puzzles.
Her husband Earl, whom she married Aug. 12, 1948, died March 2, 2010.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara (William) Ogden of Poland; two sons, Randall
(Cathy) Braund of Knoxville,TN and Douglas (Dawn) Braund of Austintown; nine grandchildren, Hilary(Alan) Futo, Sarah (John) Rutledge, Jacob Braund, Erica (Kent) McClure, Rachel Stouffer, David Braund, Morgan Braund, Ashley (Kevin) Trapp, and Nicholas Barbone; and six great-grandchildren, Olivia and Carson McClure, Jayce and Cameron Stouffer, Carrah Finkel, and Rowan Rutledge.
Besides her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Peffer; and one sister, Leola Whittle.
Services will be held at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home Poland, Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Michael Grant officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown.
Friends and family will be received Monday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Tuesday from 10-10:45AM at the funeral home.
