Gilberta Daly, 56 Poland- Gilberta Daly, 56, of 1752 Alverne Drive, died Tuesday morning at her residence after an extended illness. Mrs. Daly was born August 8, 1946 in Kinsman, a daughter of the late Gilbert and Alberta Wilcox Gates. She grew up and attended school in Kinsman, and was a graduate of Badger High School in Kinsman. She and her family moved from New Castle settling in the area in 1972. A graduate of New Castle Business College, she finished in the top 20% of her class. Eventually, Mrs. Daly went on to graduate Magna cum Laude from Youngstown State University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting. She worked as an Accountant and Cash Manager for Consumers Ohio Water Company from 1989 until 2000. She also owned and operated her own custom drapery business. She was a member of the Poland United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for 5 years. Mrs. Daly was very active in the lives of her children and in the community. She was a member of the Poland PTA, serving three times as a Delegate to Council, in the Poland School District. Also serving on the Hospitality Committee, she worked as a cashier and salesperson for the âa�A"Spendless Shop.âa�A� Active in Cub Scouts and with Brownie and Girl Scout Troop #3, she served as a Den Mother and as the Chairperson for the cookie sale for 3 years. Besides her husband James H. Daly, whom she married May 29 1966, she is survived by a daughter: Susan M. Daly of Pittsburgh; a son Scott R. Daly of Columbus; three brothers: Richard, Dennis and Harley Gates all of Kinsman; and numerous nieces and nephews. A brother precedes her in death: Galie Gates. A funeral service will be held 11AM, Friday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 âa�" 7PM, Thursday, and again on Friday from 10 âa�"10:45 AM prior to the service.
