Poland - Gerald B. Robinson, Jr., 77 of Poland, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown.
Mr. Robinson was born November 8, 1932 in Bullion, PA, a son of Gerald and Virginia Sutton Robinson.
He was a 1950 graduate of Franklin High School, upon graduation his family moved to Cochranton PA, where he worked on the family farm. He then was drafted into the United States Army. Following his return home he entered the trucking industry as an owner operator for Trans-American Freight Lines, Mason Dixon, Harshman, Regal, and Ohio Intra, and retired from Teamsters 377. After retirement he opened his own company in 1987, the Custom Tarpaulin Products, Inc. on Southern Blvd in Boardman. His company makes, truck tarps, residential and commercial awnings among many other fabric related items. Mr. Robinson enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, hunting, boating and camping. He was a member of the Mahoning County Model Airplane Club, and the Lisbon Centaurs Airplane Club. He was a very driven person, and loved to work and enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Barbara McCartney whom he married July 3, 1955, one daughter Cindy (Richard) Gouldsbarry of New Springfield; one son, Brian (Beth) Robinson of North Lima; four grandchildren, Christy Gouldsbarry, Stephanie, Kristin and Brian Robinson Jr., numerous nieces and nephews, and his dog, Andy.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Clifford Robinson.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the Cunningham Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery.
