Gerald David LaPaze

Struthers - Gerald David LaPaze, 84, died Tuesday morning, November 26, 2013 and went home to be with Lord Jesus Christ in heaven.
Gerald, affectionately known as "Jerry," was born August 8, 1929 in Youngstown, a son of Paul and Mary Nash LaPaze.
He was a 1946 graduate of Struthers High School and enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a clerk. For over 45 years, he was self-employed as a carpet installer. Jerry was also employed as a toll collector for the Ohio Turnpike, working at Exit 15 and Poland for 19 years.
He was a member of Bridge of Hope Church and served as an usher on Sunday services. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed cheering for his favorite teams, the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns.
Jerry leaves the love of his life, the former Helen Baldea, whom he married February 14, 1953, at St.Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers; his son, Robert (Melanie) LaPaze of Hubbard; two granddaughters, Sarah (Kevin) Herrholtz of Hubbard and Rebecca (Tim) Eyler of Alexander, VA; and two great-grandchildren, Casey Herrholtz and Jackson Eyler.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert and Paul LaPaze.
Services will be held Monday, December 2 at noon at the Bridge of Hope Church, 7580 Glenwood Ave., with Pastor Rick Mason and Pastor Joanne Baltes officiating. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Friends will be received Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers and on Monday from 11-11:45 a.m. at the church.
