Gerald A. Colaneri

Lowellville - Gerald A. Colaneri, 60, died Friday afternoon, January 15, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital.

Gerald, affectionately known as "Jerry," was born June 11, 1955 in Youngstown, a son of Alfonso and Nevada Arp Colaneri.

Raised in Lowellville, Jerry was a 1974 graduate of Lowellville High School. He received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Youngstown State University and his M.B.A. from Golden Gate University.

In the 80's, Jerry moved to Virginia Beach and worked most of his career with U.S. Navy Audit as an auditor, retiring in 2002. Shortly after, he moved back to Lowellville and operated his own accounting business called GAC Business Services, which he was still currently operating.

Jerry was a member of the former Lowellville Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Lowellville Business Association and served as the Tax Commissioner for Lowellville from 2005-2015. Also a member of the Acme Club and a social member of the Mt. Carmel Society, Jerry enjoyed golfing in both of their leagues.

In his free time, he loved cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, camping, and fishing. He especially loved being "Papa" to his grandchildren and spending time with them.

In addition to his mother, Nevada, of New Middletown, Jerry leaves his wife, the former Renette Baldridge, whom he married May 17, 2015; two children, Justin (Molly) Colaneri of Kettering and Julie (Marty) Mayer of Virginia Beach; two step-daughters, Kristen Pallozzi of Youngstown and Brooke (Dan) Kalitich of Boardman; four grandchildren, Gabriella and Nicholas Colaneri, Ainsley Kalitich, and Addison Mayer; a sister, June Wilson; and two brothers, James (Ellen) Pence and Thomas (Doris) Pence.

In addition to his father, Jerry was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Minteer and Helene Rotz.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring Street, Struthers.

Family and friends will be received Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
