Coitsville - George Skripac, 92, of Coitsville, died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center. Mr. Skripac was born January 11, 1916 in McKees Rocks, PA, a son of Andrew and Helen Flukes Skripac. He was a life-long area resident. A 1935 graduate of Lowellville High School, he worked as a blacksmith for Youngstown Sheet and Tube/LTV for over 29 years and as a school bus driver for the Youngstown Board of Education for 10 years. Mr. Skripac was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville. He was a United States Army veteran serving during World War II and was a member of the American Legion No. 560 in Campbell. He was also a member of the Mahoning County Farm Bureau, the Croatian Lodge No. 185, and the Coitsville Senior Citizens. Mr. Skripac enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. His wife, the former Mary Lanches, whom he married February 6, 1944, died June 2, 2008, just three days prior to his death. He leaves his daughter, Susan Camp of Oswego, NY; three sons, John (Linda) Skripac of Westerville, James (Cathy) Skripac of Stow, and Joseph (Ruth) Skripac of Gilbert, AZ; a sister, Anna (Paul) Reinhard of Havelock, NC; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Skripac of Canfield, six grandchildren, Amy Marenkovic of Canfield, Lora Skripac of Poland, Alexandra (Scott) Eikleberry of Lewis Center, Jennifer Skripac of Cuyahoga Falls, Christopher (Connie) Skripac of Stow, and Ashley Camp of Gilbert, AZ; and six great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Skripac; one sister, Evanna Coriell; and three brothers, Matt, Tony, and Frank Skripac. Friends will be received Friday, June 27, 2008 at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville Chapel from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, June 28, 2008 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. A funeral mass will be held for both George and Mary on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery.
