George Rusu, Jr. âa�" 86 YOUNGSTOWN âa�" George Rusu Jr., 86, of 1978 Bancroft Ave, formerly of Largo Florida, died Tuesday afternoon at his residence. Mr. Rusu was born in New Castle, June 8, 1921, a son of Rev. George, Sr. and Bessie Johnson Rusu. He was a graduate of New Castle High School. He was a WWII Navy Veteran where he was in the Sea Beas, which was a Combat Construction Unit. Mr. Rusu received the Asiatic Pacific Medal and the Victory Medal. Mr. Rusu was a member of the Highway Tabernacle Church. He loved attending church, gardening and building things. He is survived by two daughters, Doreen Hull of Hubbard and Kimberly (Marc) Meredith of Gulf Port, Florida; six sisters, Florence (Bill) Altman of New Castle, Ruth (Bob) Maier of Youngstown, Jane (Jack) Boano of Poland, Mary Yurkovich of Youngstown, Jean (Phil) Pantalone of Euclid and Diane (Rev. Raymond) Zents, Jr., of Warren; five brothers, Ben (Lois) Rusu of Florida, David (Jenny) Rusu of Struthers, Don (Janet) Rusu of Oklahoma, Dan (Trudy) Rusu of Wisconsin and Bob (Trudy) Rusu of Canfield; and one grandson, Richard Nittoli. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam Rusu, and an infant brother, Cornelius; and two sisters, Esther Connolly and Bea VanSlack. Mr. Rusu was a loving father, grandfather, and brother. He will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. Services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman, with Rev. Gary Rozier officiating.
