George Leroy Metzinger

Youngstown - George Leroy Metzinger, 66, died December 29, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center. George was born June 29, 1950 in Youngstown, a son of Robert and Helen Smith Metzinger.
He was a 1969 Wilson High School graduate. He worked in construction for Metzinger Home Improvement retiring in 2010. George was member of the Youngstown American Legion Post #472. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam.
George was a sports fanatic who loved the Cleveland Indians and Browns.
He is survived by his wife, the former Michele Hickey, whom he married June 12, 1982; one daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Metzinger of Boardman; one granddaughter, Hannah McDevitt; three brothers, Robert (Flo) Metzinger of Mishawaka, IN, William Metzinger of Brookfield, and James Metzinger of Austintown; one sister, Helen (Anthony) Polombi of North Lima; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Metzinger.
Services will be held Tuesday at 9:00AM at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home , 8536 Market St., Boardman. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery with military honors.
Friends and family will be received Monday from 4-7PM at the funeral home.
