George E. Hall, born to Helen Linden Hall and the late George Hall on May 1, 1940, passed away August 20, 2019 after a year long battle with a brain tumor.
George was raised in Struthers, working from a young age to help his family, and graduated from high school with lifelong friends from the Wildcat class of 1958. Working his way through YSU, George earned his teaching degree and started his 35 year career teaching mechanical drawing and art for the Poland School System. His drawing students consistently dominated the annual Ohio Industrial Arts convention in Columbus. Along with his dedication to his classroom students, George coached tennis, golf and swimming.
A talented artist and builder, George painted many cars, motorcycle tanks, and signs in the valley and probably hundreds of Bulldogs and Wildcats for various places and items. George designed and constructed many home additions and lovely furniture pieces for family and friends. Having always been a custom car enthusiast , George built and owned many unique vehicles. George’s other passion has been golf, spending many hours on area courses giving his fellow competitors stories to tell and his youngest son a life’s obsession.
George leaves his wife of 44 years, Katie, and their children Sarah (Doug Welton), Erik (Annie Lape Hall), and Taylor. Erik and Annie added granddaughters Mackenzie, Gabriella, and Giulana. George’s mother in law, Mary Delle Hale, brothers in law, James Hale Jr. and Douglass Hale (Catey T. Hale) have been his family.
Left too with his memory are George E. Hall, Jr. (Holly) and their daughter Frances (Richard Hitchcock), great grandson Richie, and Elizabeth Shields.
Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy, infant sister Marian, and father in law, James Hale.
From childhood, to teaching and coaching, golfing, and his “car guys”, George has been blessed with wonderful friends. They have enriched his life and supported him faithfully in his last year. George will be present in their memories and gathering, and forever with his family grateful for a life well lived, skills learned and knowing love is enduring.
