New Middletown - George S. DiLullo, 77, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday morning, Feb. 22, 2014, at the Hospice House, surrounded by his family, after suffering a stroke.
George was born July 26, 1936 in New Castle, Pa., a son of Sast and Louise Pesa DiLullo.
A dedicated and hard-working man, George was a self-employed carpenter for over 50 years. His work ethic was exemplary. George could have retired many years ago, but he chose to continue to work. He was blessed by God with good health and was able to work to the very end of his days.
George¹s heart was as big as his smile, as anyone who knew him could also attest to his generous spirit. As God¹s word tells us, there are different gifts that He gives to each of us, and George¹s was certainly the gift of love first for God, then for his family, whom he truly loved and cherished. He was also blessed with the gift of hospitality, and his home was open to all. We believe that our Lord greeted George with a hug and a ³Well done, my good and faithful servant.²
Some of George¹s favorite things included traveling with his wife, detailing and waxing cars, and lending a helping hand to family and friends with their
projects.
He was a member of the Victory Christian Center, where he was a greeter and volunteered working in the church¹s Skylight Cafe and nursery.
George is survived by his wife, the former Paulette Tondy, whom he married May 16, 1987; four children, Debbie (Ken) Carpenter of Orlando, Fla., Doug (Angela) DiLullo of Lowellville, David (Myrna) DiLullo of Struthers, and Lisa DiLullo of Poland; two step-children, Melissa (Patrick) Williams and Mary (Joseph) Richley, both of Poland; three brothers, John DiLullo, Robert (Mary Anne) DiLullo, and Rick (Joann) DiLullo; two sisters, Elda (Russell) Bequeath and Sandra DiLullo; two grandchildren, Amber and Troy; six step-grandchildren, Ramon, Ruben, Rosendo, Victoria, Nathaniel, and Jocelyn; and mother-in-law, Cecilia Tondy of North Lima.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Piergiovanni.
Family and friends will be received Monday from 4 to 6:45 p.m. at the Victory Christian Center, 3899 McCartney Road, Lowellville. A funeral service will follow calling hours on Monday at 7 p.m. at the church.
Mr. DiLullo¹s family would like to express their appreciation and thank the staff of St. Elizabeth Health Center¹s Neuro Science ICU wing and the Hospice House for the wonderful care and compassion they gave George.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts take the form of contributions in Mr. DiLullo¹s name to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.
