George Robert Crites, 83 Poland- George Robert Crites, 83, of 2591 Stoner Ave., died early Friday morning at The Greenbriar. Mr. Crites was born July 7, 1921 in Canton, a son of Russell and Helen Baxter Crites. He was raised in Canton and moved to this area in the late 1940âa�a��s. He was a graduate of Canton McKinley High School and attended Ohio University. He received his degree in Marine Engineering from Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. He was commissioned into the Merchant Marines during World War II and sailed on numerous Liberty Ships. He was a sales engineer for Bearing, Inc., in Youngstown for over 30 years retiring in 1984. Mr. Crites was a member of the Poland Presbyterian Church and Poland Lodge F&AM #766. His wife the former Marjorie Warner whom he married September 23, 1945, died April 7, 1997. He leaves two daughters, Diane Crites of Canfield and Martha Crites of Seattle, Washington. Memorial services will be Wednesday, 7:00 P.M. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers.
