George Babinchak, 90 Boardman- George Babinchak, 90, of Shepherd of the Valley, formerly of Sequoya Drive, died Saturday evening at the nursing home. Mr. Babinchak was born June 4, 1914 in South River, New Jersey, a son of George, Sr., and Susan Poscrob Babinchak. He lived in this area most of his life. He was an oiler for Republic Steel and then LTV retiring in 1976 after many years of service. During World War II he was a steel inspector for the army. For 11 years, he and his wife Ann, owned and operated the Babinchak grocery store on Brownlee Ave. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Youngstown and attended John Calvin-St. Paul United Church of Christ in Boardman. He was a 1933 graduate of South High School and was a former member of St. Johnâa�a��s Bowling League and St. Albanâa�a��s Masonic Lodge No. 677. His wife the former Ann Bindas whom he married May 8, 1937 died this past Wednesday, July 14, and was laid to her eternal rest, Saturday afternoon before Mr. Babinchakâa�a��s death. He leaves one daughter, Carole Ann Price at home; two sons, George R. (Joan) Babinchak of Struthers and John A. (Elaine) Babinchak of Summerville, S.C.; two sisters, Susan Susko of Canfield and Ann Machel of Austintown; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Besides his parents and wife, one brother, John Babinchak and two infant granddaughters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. at John Calvin-St. Paul United Church of Christ. Friends may call Tuesday, 5-8 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the church. Family requests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, John Calvin-St. Paul United Church of Christ, Shepherd of the Valley, Boardman, or Hospice of the Valley.
